About Dr. Dorantes

    A specialist in the field of treating addictions, he is passionate about assisting his patients and their family members through their mental health journey, proving the proper care, guidance and support they need according to their individual circumstances and needs.

 

     In his community, he has been a leader and innovator, creating and managing projects which focused on the youth and most at-risk people of the population. His outreach programs have the ability to detect risk factors, with subsequent follow-up and guidance.

He has worked alongside other doctors and psychologists, experts in their fields, with the goal of bettering the services available and the health of the people around him.

Dr. Dorantes has a long and established history in the state of Baja California helping his community better understand and manage the health of its people.

Constantly updating his knowledge

The doctor is constantly in a learning process, updating his studies with the most relevant and recent information in the field of biology, medicine, psychology and psychiatry. He spends his time studying in related fields, such as radiography, so that he can understand the patient holistically in all aspects; the social, the psychological, the environment that influences the individual, even the organic matter that forms us.

Physician

During this period, he studied at the Autonomous University of Hidalgo, Mexico, graduating in 1994 with the title of Medical Doctor (Surgeon).

1995-1998

Specialty in Psychiatry

He studied at the Autonomous University of Mexico, Mexico, starting in 1995 and finishing his studies with a specialty in Psychiatry in 1998.

2011

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

He continued his learning in the area of mental health at the National Autonomous University of Mexico, focusing on cognitive-behavioral therapy. This therapy is a type of psychosocial intervention whose objective is to reduce the symptoms of various mental disorders, mainly depression and anxiety disorders.

2012-2014

Studies on Social Models of Addiction

This study, carried out by the Caar Institute, focuses on addressing the rehabilitation process from a social perspective, integrating the immediate environment of the person; this includes their family, their social group, and their work environment. By involving all these different groups, their closest community participates in their recovery process. The basis of the system studied in this course are community interventions, modifying their participation to establish or restore links with their social environment.

Medical Investigation

Yale University

During 2020, he took Yale University's Medical Research course. This is a study focused on biostatistics, which uses different methods of analysis to address some object of study. The study addresses everything from data collection and storage, the development of scientific protocols, the analysis of information, to the  interpretation of results and their graphic representation.

Publons Academy Certified Reviewer

The Publons Academy has provided a platform to facilitate peer review of scientific article protocols, with one person acting as a mentor. In order to be a mentor, one had to be certified through the official organization.

Medical Neuroscience

Duke University

Neurology is the branch of medicine that deals with the diagnosis and treatment of conditions and diseases that affect the brain, spinal cord, and peripheral nerves. Neurological practice draws heavily from the field of neuroscience, the scientific study of the nervous system, and the primary focus of this course. It includes basics of neurological anatomy, its physiology and clinical examination systems for the central and peripheral nervous systems.

Fundamentals of Magnetic Resonance Imaging

Korean Advanced Institute of Science and Technology

A course that covers the basics of the operation of magnetic resonance  imaging devices, their components, and the mathematical theory whose correct operation produces images by means of electromagnetic waves.
